Certain Mass Effect 2 saves won't work with the se...
*WARNING THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS*

Bioware has announced that if Commander Shepard ends up dead in the end of Mass Effect 2 than your save will not be able to cross over to part 3.

"You can play Mass Effect 3 if you died in Mass Effect 2 of course, but you'll have to create a new Shepard. Harsh? Yes. But we wouldn't be serious about the concept of a suicide mission if you couldn't die and your death didn't have serious consequences."

Personally I think this is ridiculous it's a video game. Its purpose is fun. Why would they interfere with the fun of their own game?

I think its a good move that if you die in Mass Effect 2 you need to make a new Shepard in Mass Effect 3. Actions cause changes and continue on into the next game, same as it was with Mass Effect into Mass Effect 2. I don't think its about being a strong character level wise, it's dependant on your choices, and if took time to make your team loyal, knowing what their specialities are etc. I survived and lost one team member and look forward to how that and all my choices affect the next game. It dosen't interfere with the fun of the game, just alters parts of your Mass Effect Universe depending upon the choices. It wouldn't make sense if you chose to do something that changed how alot of the Universe sees humans and could change the Alliance/Cerberus but couldn't die. As for announcing it so soon, Mass Effect is a trilogy, so it was clear they would make Mass Effect 3 :D

My question is why they've announced a sequel so soon...

Chose to die? That's not what I heard. From what I've read if you go into the final mission and end up not being strong enough your team get's slaughtered. /:

I don't see the problem.

You chose to die, therefore, you can't possibly continue on to the third game, and making it so that if you're dead things go another way would just be like making 2 different games in one.

From what I've read its not exactly easy to die and I did not my first playthrough.

I imagine anyone who would care about this would make sure to have a save by the time ME3 where they are still alive.
